The Warm Autumn House

Drawing inspiration from the serene hues of autumn, the house is adorned with rich, warm tones, creating an environment that prioritizes homeliness, warmth, and invitation. Situated in proximity to the lift, we've designed a multifunctional divider. This divider not only facilitates airflow and admits light from the doorway but also doubles as a privacy panel, featuring shelving to showcase the owners' favourite items. The intentional use of the rustic floor tiles at the entry and vintage glass pendant lights also serves as an element to reflect one of the owner’s French country background.

When planning the layout, we focused on enhancing spaciousness, the flow of natural light and maximising storage space. Originally partitioned off, the kitchen was confined by a dividing wall, resulting in a cramped and dark kitchen space. To remedy this, we proposed removing the wall and installing a kitchen counter with an island between the living and kitchen areas. This simple alteration vastly opens up the space, encouraging seamless conversations across different zones.

Considering the couple's penchant for cooking, we installed bifold windows and doors in the kitchen, offering flexibility to enclose the space when desired. In the yard, we reconfigured the layout by eliminating the walls of the yard toilet and installing cabinets to optimize storage options.

To adhere to the owner’s budget, we have intentionally incorporated earthy tones and rich, deep colors from a variety of materials, infusing the space with depth and warmth throughout the house.
