Art Deco Glamour

The theme, “We love Art Deco interior” requested by one of our clients was what got me really excited. I have always been a fan of retro patterns, colours and texture play.

This home is designed for a couple, Dionne & Wee Keat, who works from home most of the time. Understanding our clients’ personalities and lifestyle is crucial for us to design a home tailored to them specifically. In this case, Dionne and Wee Keat shared with us their love for travels and how they love to unwind with drinks after a long day of work. Dionne also shared that green is her favourite colour, wishes to have a good burnt orange leather sofa and a nice chandelier.

With that, we started to work together on a design concept with a rich and deep colour scheme. The idea was to have blue, green and burnt orange elements as the key highlight colour, with a touch of gold around the space to add glamour.

Accessories and furniture play an important part to complete the art deco interior. To go with the theme, we picked furniture and furnishing that either comes as a statement piece, or has nice geometric shapes/lines or luxurious fabrics. We also selected and installed art deco art pieces of the various cities that the couple had went to to allow them reminise their travel memories.

No art deco home is complete without a beautiful set of black and white art deco tiles. We helped to select the geometric black and white floor tiles in the common bathroom and finished with a classic yet statement hanging light.

For the kitchen, we added rounded handles for additional details.

And for the master study/ dresser room, we added a Crate and Barrel dresser table along with a vintage standing lamp as a statement feature piece in the middle of the room. Dionne’s old mirror was reused as a perfect touch of vintage brass.
